I was productive this weekend - WAHOO!!!

My creative juices were flowing and I made a Families Unit for social studies.  I have been struggling to find resources that I liked to teach about families, so I knew I would be better off just creating my own!

Included in this unit:
Read Aloud Suggestions
Can / Have / Are Chart
Family Portrait Page
My Family is Special - Writing Activity
Family Tree Template
My Family Tradition - Writing Activity
My Family Vacation - Writing Activity
My Family Rules Activity
My Family Responsibility - Writing Activity
My Family Helps - Writing Activity
Timeline Project Directions and Parent Letter

Interested in snagging a copy for free?!  Leave me some bloggy love (before midnight tonight) telling me something you enjoy doing with YOUR family!  I'll choose one winner, so be sure to leave your email address and you might find something waiting for you in your inbox in the morning...

Happy Sunday!!!
Oh how I have been neglecting this lil blog!  Shame on me!!  What better way to catch you up on what I've been up to than to link up with Doodle Bugs Teaching...

I started the week out in one of my favorite places... CHICAGO!  Got to see the Chicago marathon (AND Sean Astin was running - Go Goonies!!!)
View from my sister's apartment!

Run Forest, Run!

But even BETTER than the marathon?!
Seeing my two beautiful nieces!!!

This girl is ALWAYS smiling!

Hard to catch this one standing still!

We got a Donor's Choose project funded, wahoo!  The materials came in - the perfect kid-sized headphones for my lil firsties.  No more whining about not being able to hear / the headphones are too big / the wires are tangled!
Just the sweet sound of silence as they submerge themselves in technology.
Math Bingo App

Practicing our "counting on" strategy!

We are knee-deep in Daily 5 and reading groups and I am LOVING it!  This is my sixth year using Daily 5 and I can't imagine how I ever taught without it!  My kids are so engaged in their activities and they absolutely love making their own choices.

Word Work

I started reading this fabulous book on the plane this weekend, and I can't seem to put it down!  I highly recommend it.  She has some great management tips and a TON of mini-lessons with mentor texts.  I am DETERMINED to become a better writing workshop teacher this year!!!

Changing my bulletin board was WELL over-due... so I gave it a fall overhaul!  I absolutely love this craftivity from Miss Kindergarten.  Her crafts are so adorable!

That's what we've been up to lately... and hoping I can get back into a better blogging routine!
